Voter Advocacy

New Jersey has record low voter turnout. Under 40% of voters voted in 2017. The League advocates the following measures to improve voter access and remove obstacles to the ballot:

  • Automatic voter registration
  • Mercer County, NJ online Voter Registration form
  • Expanding in-person early voting
  • Same day voter registration
  • Restoring voting rights to people with criminal convictions
  • Redistricting reform

Fair-Districs-NJ-2-1000x1000.png

The LWVNJ has created Fair Districts advocacy campaign for an impartial redistricting policy in New Jersey.

Currently, politicians draw district lines, designed to benefit those in office (gerrymandering).

The Fair Districts campaign is working with legislators on an amendment requiring that districts be redrawn by an impartial, independent citizens commission.
TAKE ACTION!
